Smithfield Foods Pledges $150,000 for Veteran Transitional Housing and Meals
SFD•Smithfield Foods donated $150,000 to Operation Homefront to fund transitional housing support for 10 to 15 veteran families and its Holiday Meals for Military® program, delivering about 750 meals. Employees volunteered on a North Carolina housing project on May 22 and will host another event in Utah on May 29.
1. $150,000 Investment Fosters Veteran Support
Smithfield Foods contributed $150,000 to Operation Homefront to underwrite its Transitional Homes for Veterans and Holiday Meals for Military® initiatives, enabling housing assistance for 10 to 15 families and provision of approximately 750 meals to military and veteran households.
2. Employee Volunteer Activities
On May 22, Smithfield employees assembled furniture, toys and outdoor amenities at a Fayetteville, North Carolina, transitional home. The company will continue volunteer efforts with a planned event in Salt Lake City, Utah, on May 29.
3. Program Impact and Reach
Operation Homefront’s housing program offers rent- and utility-free homes, financial counseling, employment support and case management. The Holiday Meals for Military® series will host four events in 2026, addressing food insecurity with pantry staples and grocery gift cards for traditional holiday meals.
