Spire Global Launches Ten Satellites, Expands GHGSat Methane Monitoring Constellation
SPIR•Spire Global launched ten satellites on SpaceX’s Transporter-17 mission, including two methane-monitoring units for GHGSat that expand its high-resolution greenhouse gas detection constellation to seven satellites. The mission also deployed seven satellites for Space Services customers and added one to replenish Spire’s own constellation, maintaining its global coverage.
1. Successful Transporter-17 Rideshare Launch
On July 8, Spire Global launched ten satellites aboard SpaceX’s Transporter-17 rideshare mission, with all payloads integrated by Exolaunch. This launch underscores Spire’s growing partnership network and its ability to secure regular rideshare slots for rapid constellation growth.
2. Expansion of GHGSat Methane Detection Constellation
Two of the newly launched satellites were built and are now operated by Spire on behalf of GHGSat, raising GHGSat’s high-resolution methane monitoring constellation to seven satellites. This expanded fleet enhances actionable emissions tracking for energy, industrial and regulatory customers.
3. Deployment for Space Services Clients and Constellation Replenishment
The mission also carried seven satellites for Space Services customers across security, IoT connectivity and environmental monitoring, plus one unit to replace an aging orbiter. This deployment maintains Spire’s fully deployed constellation, ensuring uninterrupted global data collection and analytics services.
