Trekor Metals has submitted a Detailed Project Description for its 100%-owned Yellowhead Copper Project to the BC Environmental Assessment Office, marking its advancement to the Readiness Decision phase. This submission follows over 1,000 community member engagements and has initiated scoping under the Simpcw consent-based assessment model.
2. Economic Impact Study Highlights
A comprehensive economic impact study projects the Yellowhead Project will generate C$47 billion in total Canadian economic output and C$27.3 billion in value-added GDP, with roughly 70% of activity concentrated in BC’s Thompson-Nicola region. During operations, the mine will employ 525 direct workers at an average compensation of C$153,000 and support 3,305 total jobs.
3. Production Outlook and Strategic Growth
The mine is designed for annual production of 178 million pounds of copper in concentrate over a 25-year life, positioning it as Canada’s second-largest copper producer and boosting national copper output by 16%. Combined with new production from Florence Copper in Arizona and existing Gibraltar assets, Yellowhead will enhance Trekor Metals’ North American footprint.
