Werner Enterprises is doubling its intermodal container fleet in Mexico to 800 units by year end, focusing initial deployments in Monterrey and Silao before expanding into Mexico City. Last year intermodal revenue rose 16% to $129 million on a 17% increase in loads, representing 15% of total logistics revenue.

Werner Enterprises is expanding its intermodal container fleet in Mexico from 400 to 800 units by the end of 2026, deploying new 53-foot containers first in Monterrey and Silao with Mexico City additions slated for later this year.
2. Last Year Performance
Intermodal revenue climbed 16% to $129 million last year, driven by a 17% rise in loads; this segment now contributes 15% of Werner’s total logistics revenue of $857 million, with revenue per load remaining stable.

Each container is equipped with GPS location sensors and cargo cameras, while Werner exclusively uses C-TPAT certified carriers and offers 24/7 bilingual support to streamline cross-border shipments.

The company is capitalizing on nearshoring and rising truckload rates to convert more freight to intermodal transport, and it will report first-quarter results after the market close on Tuesday.
