Garrett Motion has secured the first commercial application of its largest MEG turbocharger platform with Weichai Power’s next-generation large-bore marine and genset engine programs. This landmark deal marks Garrett’s entry into higher-power marine propulsion and backup power systems, leveraging Weichai’s global reach in industrial engines.

The MEG series is designed for marine propulsion, high-output power generation, and data-center backup genset systems, supporting diesel, natural gas and emerging alternative fuels. Key innovations include optimized aerodynamics, high-temperature materials and modular architecture, delivering higher efficiency, long-term reliability and reduced fuel consumption and emissions.

This deployment extends Garrett’s advanced turbocharging technologies into large-engine segments, strengthening its industrial portfolio and addressing tighter global emissions targets. The collaboration builds on a partnership dating to 1998 and positions Garrett for further expansion in marine, power generation and industrial markets.
