UNG•Trump reportedly pressed Mexico’s president for more deals between U.S. and Mexican energy companies during a call. The leaders also discussed a deal that could include $100 billion in U.S. energy purchases, and Mexico potentially increasing its purchases of U.S. natural gas.
1. Energy company deals
Trump reportedly pressed Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum for more deals and tie-ups between Mexican and U.S. energy companies during a call.
2. Possible purchase deal
The leaders also reportedly discussed a deal similar to one signed last year with South Korea, which agreed to buy $100 billion of U.S. energy products and invest billions more in the United States. A U.S. official said they discussed Mexico increasing its purchases of U.S. natural gas, which already meets about three-quarters of Mexico’s demand. The talks focused on reducing Mexico’s trade surplus with the United States.
